LVRS is a short film, done in magical realism, and directed by Emily Bennett. I cast Emily in my movie DESPERATE DOLLS in 2013 and, as well as acting, she's a terrifc writer/director. LVRS (short for Lovers) is her 5th film and, to date, her most intersting. She asked me to score the film and I ended up producing about 1 hour worth of music. This soundtrack is 50 minutes of full tracks; the film itself uses about 8 minutes, cutting and pasting from the total library of tracks. Recorded in just 7 days, the music is almost all created with open-mic'ing of an acoustic guitar run through a mountain of effects onto analog tape. I flew in a few synths, but it's much less than you might think. Though made just after ALL THE FLOWERS THAT CUT THROUGH THE DARK, it is a totally different sonic landscape, one of long, droning washes punctuated by weird, almost unidentifiable sounds, and the occasional bit o' tunefulness. Like the film, it is brittle, brused, and broken. I should note that the sound was inspired by Jon Hopkins, Johnny Greenwood, and Hammock, where were all used as temp music and on-set music to set the mood.
