DEMENTIA PRECOX's is a "lost band" from Dayton, Ohio that I followed closely in the 1980s. Fans include Trent Reznor (NINE INCH NAILS) and Al Jourgensen (MINISTRY). "Headless" is a compilation of 4 extended dance mixes of songs from the late 80s/early 90s. It's not my favorite period of DP, but a lot of the fans dig it. So I put it out under my Brazildisc label in partnership with the surviving members of the band (main dude Gyn Cameron died about 10 years ago), remastered by Blaise Barton based on source tapes preserved by original producer Gary King. It's been wonderful to work on this project and we hope to bring out more releases in the future; there is a lot to the catalog. Also released around this time is a different version of the lead cut "Drive Away Slowly." That was more of a rock version, so we did it as a separate single. Its source tape was also not as pristine. |
